About Us
Dr. Gilleland did undergraduate work at the University of Pittsburgh and received his DDS degree in 1987 from Emory University in Atlanta. He is currently a member of the following organizations:

He has completed advanced studies in Cosmetic Dentistry, Implants, Anesthesia and Reconstructive Dentistry which includes crown and bridge work, dentures, partials, implants, veneers and more.
Dr. Gilleland comes from a long line of dentists in his family. His grandfather was a dentist, his father is a retired dentist and his brother is a dentist currently practicing in Sarasota.
He worked with a large group practice in Atlanta for three years before relocating to Port Charlotte in early 1990. Dr. Gilleland has practiced in Port Charlotte for 20 years.
In 1999 he built a new modern, state of the art dental facility located at 2496 Caring Way in Port Charlotte where he runs his dental practice.
Dental Hygienist
Elissa is a registered Dental Hygienist and has been practicing for fourteen years. She graduated from Hudson Valley Community College in Troy, New York in 1997, and began practicing in Albany, NY. She moved to the Port Charlotte, Florida area where she has been a valuable part of Dr. Gilleland's Team since 2006.
Elissa loves spending time with her husband Paul and her son Jacob. She also enjoys golfing, swimming and going to the beach.
Dental Assistant
Kelly is a Certified Dental Assistant. She has 30 years of dental experience and has been a part of Dr. Gilleland's Team since February 1993.
Kelly was born and raised in Florida. She and her husband of 29 years, David, have raised two sons, Michael and David. Kelly enjoys boating and going to the Gym. She is an avid sports fan, and loves those Florida Gators!
Certified Dental Assistant
Krystle is a Certified Dental Assistant and is currently attending Edison Community College for Dental Hygiene. She graduated in 2006 from the Dental Assisting School of Charlotte Technical Center in Port Charlotte, Florida. Krystle has been part of Dr. Gilleland's Team since June 2006.
Krystle loves spending time with her family, especially her nephews, and loves to scrapbook. She recently married her long time Fiance, Chaz Hanchey, and together they reside in their home in Port Charlotte, Florida with their dog, Rusty.
Hygiene Coordinator
Julie is our Hygiene Coordinator. Originally from Oklahoma, Julie worked for years as a Graphic Specialist for the Oklahoma City Public Schools. Her husband's career moved them around the country and she lived in Colorado, California, and Missouri working as a Medical Receptionist before settling in the North Port area of Florida where she joined Dr. Gilleland's Team in September, 2010.
Together, Julie and her husband, Roger, have raised three daughters, who have given them five grandchildren. Julie loves spending time with her family, cooking, and gardening. Avid boaters, she and Roger love sailing the BVI's and taking long walks on the beaches here in Florida looking for sharks teeth!
Treatment Coordinator
Penny is our Treatment Coordinator. Originally from Michigan, Penny has been in the dental field for nine years and has experience as a Dental Assistant. Penny received her Expanded Function Certification and her Dental Radiography license in 2001 at the St. Pete Dental Institute in St. Petersburg, Florida. Penny joined Dr. Gilleland's team in August, 2011.
Penny and Rob, her husband of ten years, are raising their daughter Catelyn, and currently settled down in the Port Charlotte area. Penny enjoys spending time with her family and scrapbooking.
