Veneers are small shards of porcelain used to cover the teeth, but even though they\u2019re thin, people would be able to tell that you have had dental work done. For that reason, your dentist will remove a little bit of your enamel to make room for your veneers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Under normal circumstances, your enamel is used to protect the sensitive interior of the tooth. With less of it, it\u2019s natural for your teeth to be a little bit more sensitive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Will Veneers Actually Make My Teeth More Sensitive?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Ideally, your veneers are going to be able to take the place of the enamel that has been removed in protecting the sensitive interior of your tooth. Long-term, your teeth really shouldn\u2019t feel all that much different from the way that they did before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, it will take a little bit of time for your teeth to adjust, and in that time you may be a little bit more sensitive than usual.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Deal With Temporarily Sensitive Teeth<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Until you start to feel back to normal, you may have to do a few things to manage the sensitivity you\u2019re feeling. The first and easiest is over-the-counter pain relievers. Given that any discomfort you\u2019re dealing with should be fairly mild, taking these pain relievers as directed should be plenty for you to feel better.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You may also want to avoid those foods and drinks that cause the most stinging, like anything excessively hot or cold. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
